Gerdau Midlothian enters a 3-year cooperation with Badische

The Gerdau Long Steel North America mill in Midlothian, Texas awarded Badische Stahl-Engineering (BSE) a three-year know-how contract in mid-June this year. Badische is a German-based steel mill consulting and engineering firm with 40 years of experience in the global steel industry on every continent.

Midlothian selected them for their unique Badische mini-mill philosophy and principle of relying primarily on operational experience. The companies launched this project as Midlothian considers a strategy to increase production capacity with two AC-EAFs, each with a tapped weight of around 130 tons.

The cooperation comprises onsite missions, as well as customized workshops and trainings at the Badische mill in Kehl. Based on the results, priorities will be set for each upcoming investment step, which may include further major equipment investments. The top priority is to increase productivity in a sustainable and safe way.
