Three 350-ton converters at Hazira plant to be equipped with sublance-based BOF process control
Effective BOF process control is essential for the efficiency and economy of steelmaking operations. It reduces the converter tap-to-tap time and as such increases plant output, while allowing for higher scrap input and reducing consumption of hot metal and fluxes. On top of that, the number of heats that require downgrading or repair is greatly reduced.
ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel, India’s largest producer of flat carbon steels, has signed a contract with Danieli Corus for the supply of three sublance-based BOF process control systems for the three 350-t converters of the greenfield BOF shop at Hazira plant.
With five earlier projects in India – for JSW Steel at Toranagallu and Dolvi plants and for JSPL at Angul plant – this contract brings the total number of Danieli Corus sublance systems sold in India to 15, out of total 150 supplied worldwide.
The Danieli Corus sublance-based system is proven to offer the highest hit rates in combination with an unparalleled ability to survive for decades in the harsh environment on the converter hood.
